Hallmark missed out on an opportunity to sell cards last week. Apparently their shipment of cards were shipped too late for National Outburst Week. We begin the celebration with Rep. Joe Wilson shocking his colleagues by interrupting the President' health care speech with, "You Lie!" I don't care which side of the aisle you sit on or even who has heckled speakers in the past - it was rude. My mom says, "If you do not have anything good to say then do not say anything." Come to think of it she normally tells me this when I am celebrating National Outburst Week.
Joe was rescued from the firing line when Serena Williams gave us a new definition for rudeness. She was in the semifinals against a tough fighting Kim Clijsters. Serena had already broken one racket during an angry outburst in the match. However, it was the untimely foot fault call that pushed Serena over the edge during the last game. In a profanity laced tirade, that should show William Bennett that outrage may not be dead, she attacked the line judge which would cost her to forfeit match point and to be fined the maximum $10,000.
The rudeness trifecta was complete when Kanye West jumped on the stage of the MTV Video Music Awards and took the microphone from teenager winner Taylor Swift’s hand. She had begun her acceptance speech when West boldly announced that Beyonce's video should have been the winner. Fortunately, Beyonce was there to save the day for manners and good behavior. She was appalled by West's behavior and when she won the top award she conceded her moment to call Swift back on stage to finish her acceptance speech.
In a worldview that removes God and sanctity of life; In a worldview that removes the word of God from everyday living; In a worldview that is so selfish and lacking of any respect I guess we better get ready for the shipment of Hallmark cards to come in. Because they will!
