It Is Summertime!

I can't believe this is the final week of school for the kids. I should have seen it coming. Caleb has been counting the days since February. It is not that he doesn’t like school, he just doesn't like going. Soon he will celebrate the long break. Remember when the summer seemed like it lasted forever?

Hailey is learning that the last week of school means final exams. That is unfortunate because I think she quit school about the time we honored the graduates three weeks ago. Now she is in a dilemma over the summer. Her wonderful daddy, who has her best interest at heart, wants her to get a job. She likes the idea of a paycheck, but the part about going to work is not that appealing. It won’t be long until I get a phone call from my wonderful little girl who will announce that she is bored. I will reply, "Get a job!"

Heather is finishing up middle school. The term middle school tells you that it is an in between time. There will be tears as they consider the changes that are about to take place. Tears that didn't make sense in the 6th and 7th grades are suddenly real. Speaking of tears – Lori will cry. All of her kids are moving up one grade. Time is flying by! Her routine will be shot down in flames. Her quiet refuge will soon be transformed into a jungle. It is summertime.

The youth have their calendars full. I am so glad that Megan Youngblood will be working this summer to help us. Be sure to give her a big hug and thank her for her hard work.
