Praying For Our Mission
Last Sunday our study led us to, "When Mission Takes Us Home." This is the story about the first missionary journey of Barnabas and Saul. Where did they go to first? They traveled to the place where Barnabas grew up. Cyprus was the first stop. As we go into "all the world" we are reminded that mission also takes us home. We are passionate about saving our family and friends.
Today we experienced some of the first fruits of our mission. David Brandenburg was baptized into Christ Wednesday morning. He is the 18 year old son of Bill and Sharon Brandenburg and the grandson of Frank and Geneva Womack. Today was an answer to prayer. We rejoice with this fine family.
This event gave me an idea for ministry. We need at least 25 people to volunteer to help us in our mission. Your ministry will be to pray for 10 families every day. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have someone praying for every member, their family, and friends? Wouldn't it be great to have someone pray everyday for our community that they might be saved? Wouldn't it be nice when our men meet to pray on Tuesdays they pour out their heart to God for the lost?
If you are willing to help us please call me at the office. You will be given a list of 10 families. We will even help you to become familiar with their situations and needs. We will pray for salvation, we will pray for maturity, we will pray for unity, most of all we will pray.
I believe David is the first of many who will be converted, restored, or experience personal growth this year. I can't wait to see all the things God will do - when we pray!
