The Key to Greatness
Super Sunday was a super success. So many people worked so hard to help make things run so smooth. I do not know how we feed so many with it looking so effortless. I know the work involved. The decorations were great. Some are still trying to figure out all the people in the pictures. The ministry booths and the call to ministry encouraged us all to move from good to great. Soon the clean up crew rolled up their sleeves and returned everything back to its original place. Thanks to everyone who helped make Super Sunday so special this year.
I was eager to get to work Tuesday motivated to move from good to great. I parked in my regular spot and walked to the office door. I put in my key that I have had for 13 years and 2 months. It wouldn't turn! I tried my key at the side entrance - again it wouldn't unlock the door. Now my brain started to put two and two together. I remembered a story about a preacher who lived in a parsonage and one day his key didn't work. When he called to find out why he discovered that he wasn't employed anymore. It didn't take this Texas boy long to figure out the first thing University needed to do to move from good to great.
As it turned out Scott McPherson our wonderful locksmith was called to fix the locks on the doors. My key which I have had for years was a copy of a copy of a copy. When the lock was fixed to its original condition the bad duplicates failed to work. (There is a sermon illustration in that somewhere.) For now I am glad to be in my office. I am so excited about what God can do through us this year. Make the transition from good to Great in 2008!
Don't be left outside!
